Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion:

Inspire and Experience Change

Overview

This eLearning experience was created for learners to be able to explain and construct how a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment is beneficial for all stakeholders.

Problem and Solution

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion is imperative in the workplace. As core values to mission and vision statements, I proposed a course that would identify Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. This clarified and provided learners with opportunities to interact and engage with the subject matter. I also proposed a participant guide that would allow for the learners to reflect, take notes, and interact with the knowledge being presented. Finally, the opportunity to observe scenarios where the learner could identify DEI in action and provide what DEI attributes were observed.

Process

I designed and developed this learning module while collaborating with the subject matter expert. I utilized the Agile project management methodology and my Kanban board in Trello to effectively manage my project. To bring this module to fruition, the ADDIE model was used. The needs analysis was completed using Word and Excel, while powerpoint facilitated the design. I completed the voice over and edited the audio in Adobe Audition, with video editing in Adobe Premiere Pro. Finally, the module was published for a larger audience in YouTube.

Project Management

Analysis

I completed a training needs analysis after collaborating with the subject mater expert (SME) in our scoping meeting. Specific questions were asked to determine the audience, prior knowledge, and what the learners would be expected to learn from this training. The delivery method of the training was also determined to be a facilitator led course. Deadlines and timelines were determined and set.

Design

In this phase, I worked on the outline, storyboarding and first draft of the module. This was sent to the SME for review and begin to see the course design.

Development

This course was developed in powerpoint and uploaded to one drive and google drive for cloud based access. The course was then edited and converted to a H.264 format in Premiere Pro (MP4), for upload to YouTube and larger viewing audience.
